My mum raised me on a steady diet of classic American black and whites, B horror films, and Rod Serling and Barbara Streisand everything! Given that I didn’t have a telly back home, I absorbed Soap, The Carol Burnett Show, everything Kiss, Sha-Na-Na, Solid Gold, and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom whenever I came over on holiday. I dreamt of being the black Dinah Shore, doing movies with Cary Grant, and singing with John Denver on The Muppet Show. My favorite comedian is Sid Caesar. My favorite singer is Rod Stewart. Some of my greatest influences are Robert Guillaume and Diahann Carroll. All of this is why I’m an actress; and I’m still searching for my Sue Mengers.
